Although the
hardware
side of computers can often be dull, a good case mod can help brighten
your day.
I took a boring old standard white case, sanded it,
painted it purple, and then cut a hole in the side and bolted
in a Lexan window. Cool hey ?
Well, besides case modding, my experience also
includes
PC building,
hardware and software installation/troubleshooting, and networking. I have
worked with virtually every implementation of Windows, and a variety of
UNIX like operating systems. My current favourite OS is FreeDOS :)
Recent computer geek endevours include: building a MAME arcade machine
and having fun building cables and attachments for my
Commodore 64.
Just to confirm my computer affliction, here is the list of the
computers I currently
own:
- 2 Commodore Vic 20's
- Commodore 64 - Original Brown (breadbin)
- Commodore 64c - Newer white system with C128 like layout
- 3 Coleco Adams (hey they were free)
- Macintosh SE/30 - still useful today
- 486 SL 25 Laptop - When only Windows 3.1 will do
- 486 DX 66 - Dos gaming powerhouse
- 486 DX 100 - Almost too powerful for Dos gaming
- Pentium 120 Laptop - I still use it !
- Pentium 166 MMX - Telent BBS server (running BSD)
- Pentium 2 - 233 - My first PII
- Celeron 450 - Runs my webserver (actually overclocked 300A)
- Pentium 3 933 - with 1/2 gig of ram, still a very fast desktop
- Duron 1300 - this used to run my server, but I ended up sticking it in my MAME box
